Hello, I’m Lucy!
My name is Lucy, I’m 22 years old and grew up on a farm in country Victoria in a small town called Nhill. I live in Adelaide now with my two cats, Henry and Lottie who are my life.
I love being creative, cooking, the outdoors, going camping and being at the beach. I’m very close with my family and friends and I enjoy spending time with them.
Ethan was the first person I worked for since starting in disability, I had no experience at all! I’ve learnt a lot working alongside Ethan with his day to day routines, and it’s really opened my eyes to the challenges that people with physical disabilities face every day. There’s so many things that I never would have thought of before.
Our days together are made up of lots of activities. In the morning we’ll have a chat, I’ll make his bed, help him go to the toilet, get ready for the day and have a coffee. I’ll then get his lunch, give him a shower, and do other personal care things like trimming his beard or man-scaping. I also help with cleaning, changing his bed and going out and about in his van to do some shopping or get a haircut.
On Wednesdays I help to support Ethan with his swimming and walking. Ethan loves having his nails painted so our favourite days are the mani-pedi days! We talk and laugh a lot, and have built a really fun friendship over the time we’ve worked together.
Being part of Team Ethan is great. Everyone is so open and relaxed, and it really helped with getting training and advice from the others when I started. It’s the kind of place where no question is silly, and you can feel comfortable to ask for help with anything.
I love being in this environment with both Ethan and his mum Maureen. It’s a relaxed and comfortable place to work, and almost feels like home. It’s like you get to hang out with a friend everyday!
