Hey, I’m Jaz!
Hi, my name is Jaz. I live with my partner Harry in our house that we built together two years ago. We have a four year old Blue Heeler named Koda, who is the love of my life.
I grew up in Mallala on a small property, so had a country upbringing with motorbikes, horses, sheep, you name it. Because of this I love the outdoors, and spend a lot of time camping, going to the river and fishing. I also love to cook!
Before I started working in disability I worked as a duty manager at The Gov for many years. I love live music, so it was great to get paid to watch gigs. I decided to move into disability a few years ago, as I wanted to do something a bit more meaningful that involved caring for people.
Ethan is the first person with a physical disability that I have worked for, so it's been a big learning curve. It's been really good having the opportunity to learn about the different kinds of equipment and how to support someone with more complex personal care needs in such a friendly and supportive environment.
Working with Ethan is great, and there's always something new to learn. After I get him up out of bed for his morning cup of tea and medication, we catch up on all of the reality show gossip from the week on Friday mornings (MAFS especially!). I help around the house, support Ethan with his personal care routine, and every now and then we'll get out and about to a cafe or the shops. I love Ethan’s sense of humour - some of the sayings he comes out with are so funny. He is so kind and caring, and is always wanting to make sure his workers are ok.
Ethan and Maureen have built a really supportive team around him, and I enjoy being part of it. As one of his newest team members, everyone has been so helpful and welcoming, and I'm never afraid to ask a question or ask for help when I need it.
