Humour

As much as I don’t like to complain or whinge, living with a physical disability I have found my life at times can be frustrating, difficult, tiresome and at times depressing.

This is all just part of my life, however I can choose to let it all get to me and feel sorry for myself (and yes, sometimes I do), or I can get on with it and try and find the bright side of things, or best yet find the humour in the difficult moments.

Humour is  a great tool, and I can usually find humour in most situations. This doesn’t always mean being a clown or acting stupid, but for me it means thinking about funny things in my head. This can sometimes get me into trouble because I can’t control my laughter and everyone wants to know why I’m laughing…and sometimes it is not appropriate to share!!

I have quite a unique memory. I’m able to recall things I have watched, seen or listened to throughout my life and laugh for hours about them. Quite often Mum or someone in my team call out “What are you laughing about now??”

Whilst life is serious and sometimes frustrating, I would rather laugh than get upset or complain. It’s not always possible but it’s always worth a try!

What is something you find helps you through challenging times in life?

Keep laughing,
Ethan
